Happy birthday to me!

Not much to choose from tonight, but I can recommend tonight’s encore episodes of Wife Swap and Supernanny as examples of how extreme (-ly addictive) these two series can be.

In Wife Swap at 8p/7c on ABC, a burlesque dancer is trading places with what DirecTV describes as an “outdoorswoman”; fireworks ensue.

Supernanny follows on ABC at 9p/8c, and Jo visits a family whose teenage daughters are forced to parent their younger siblings.

There can be a mildly depressing element to these reality series, though they complement each other nicely. Usually, the frustrating clash of opposites on Wife Swap is tempered by Supernanny’s kindhearted intervention. But tonight, Supernanny has the bleaker outlook; Jo’s presence seems futile for this particular family.

Oh! And Discovery’s new cable channel Planet Green, featuring eco-responsible programming, debuted today. To see what’s on today, check out their schedule.
