Too soon, VH1, too soon.

For the record, Ben Folds predicted this a few years ago. In his song “Bastard,” he laments:

Kids today gettin’ old too fast
They can’t wait to grow up so they can kiss some ass
They get nostalgic about the last ten years
Before the last ten years have passed

I caught a minute of I Love the ’80s: 3-D last night on VH-1, and what do I learn from the omnipresent upcoming programming event bug? That I Love New Millennium premieres June 23. Call me crazy, but shouldn’t the decade be over before we start waxing nostalgic about it? The ’90s edition didn’t kick off until 2004, a full five years into the new decade. Nonetheless, the show will go on. Are we even ready to remember this decade yet? Maybe the VH-1 pop culture dissection machine should dial it back a notch or three.

It’s all about the Bravo tonight. First, at a special time of 8p/7c, it’s the fourth season premiere of summer sensation Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List. The ginger comedienne is flanked by Team Griffin and her hilarious mom on various wacky, publicity-contriving adventures all over the world.

Then, Bravo presents the 2008 A-List Awards, dedicated to celebrating the creative process and showcasing some of the leading creative minds working today. The ceremony is hosted by none other than Kathy Griffin. Manifesto faves 30 Rock and Weeds are among the contenders for A-List TV Show. Even Barack Obama is up for an award. And the “suck it, Jesus” haters need not worry — the entire affair is prerecorded.
