IDOL VIRGIN | Elimination night and the top ten

In Idol Virgin on March 25, 2010 at 9:54 am

It’s no coincidence that the worst week of this season (so far) featured both Miley Cyrus and Joe Jonas.

What can we say about poor Paige Miles? Everyone, including Paige, knew her fate practically before the performance show concluded. At least now she won’t be dragging down the top ten summer tour. “Man, I’d love to see Crystal, Casey and Mike, but that means I have to sit through Andrew, Tim, and Katie.” Or do they just do a bunch of Brady Bunch-style group numbers? I don’t know how those things work.

I was surprised to learn that the judges’ save is only valid until the top five. And it was kind (in a coldly efficient way) of Simon to tell Paige not to bother, that any attempt to save herself was futile. Props to her for giving up with flair. Things seem to be on autopilot once again at this juncture in the season, as we break up with one marginally talented singer at a time, each week wondering what we once saw in them.

Next week (unless they change it again at the last minute): R&B/soul under the supreme guidance of one-time 7th Heaven guest star Usher.
