BB8 | After Dark Update (9/17)

As I write this, Dick and Daniele are discussing the merits of a Wizard of Oz-themed house in a future Big Brother season while playing cards together. It’s definitely not the excitement we’ve seen in the After Dark hours this summer, in no small part due to the fact that only two houseguests remain in the game.

After Dark, this little late night experiment on Showtime Too, was a hit-and-miss proposition. Some nights, there were fights or strategy — some kind of action germane to the game. Other nights, we stared at the walls or witnessed countless rounds of beer pong. All in all, I appreciated (and understood) this summer of Big Brother more because of the (mostly) uncensored glimpse into the house each night. Here’s hoping that the powers that be will see fit to continue this arrangement next summer.

Now, for the last time this summer, here are your After Dark headlines, live from the Big Brother house on ShoToo:

• Today is the 80th and final night in the Big Brother house
• Remaining houseguests Dick and Daniele Donato spent the day talking about all the things they look forward to doing after getting out of the house
• Tomorrow night, all 14 houseguests, including the seven jury members, will be at the house for the live show announcing the winner of Big Brother 8 and $500,000

BB8 | After Dark Update (9/16)

• Today is day 79 in the Big Brother house
• Father/Daughter tandem Dick and Daniele Donato are the final two houseguests
• Last night, the Donatos faced a series of difficult questions from the jury of evicted houseguests
• With the $500,000 grand prize looming, Dick and Daniele spent the day in contemplation, realizing that their fate is sealed with the  jury
• The jury will vote to determine the winner of Big Brother 8 live, September 18 at 9p/8c on CBS…

BB8 | After Dark Update (9/15)

• Father and daughter duo Dick and Daniele Donato are the final two houseguests of Big Brother 8, marking the first time that a pair of relatives have made it all the way to the end
• Dick and Daniele spent the day preparing for a question and answer session led by a jury of evicted houseguests that will be held later this evening
• The jury’s vote to determine the winner of Big Brother 8 will take place live, Tuesday at 9 p.m./ET on CBS…

BB8 | After Dark Update (9/14)

• With Zach’s eviction last night, Dick and Daniele are the two remaining houseguests
• But after Dick spent the night celebrating, which kept Daniele from sleeping, they both spent the day bickering
• Sunday night is the recap show on CBS 8p/7c
• And Tuesday night we will find out who wins live on CBS 9p/8c.

BB8 | After Dark Update (9/13)

• After losing the first part of the head of household competition, Dick defeated Daniele in part two and upset Zach in part three to become the final HoH for Big Brother 8
• Having the opportunity to decide who he will face in the final two, Dick opted for his estranged daughter, Daniele, thus sending Zach to the jury house
• After deliberating over the weekend, the jury will vote to determine whether Dick or Daniele is the winner of Big Brother 8 on Tuesday, September 18, live on CBS

BB8 | After Dark Update (9/12; contains spoilers)

• Last night, Zach, Dick, and Daniele began a three-part final head of household competition
• Part one of the competition ended early this morning, lasting over seven hours
  • Zach won part one of the competition
• Part two took place earlier this evening
• Tomorrow night, the winners of parts one and two will face off in part three, live on CBS at 8 p.m./ET
• The winner will determine the final two of Big Brother 8

• Daniele won the power of veto competition
• At the veto meeting, in a surprise move, Daniele saved her dad by pulling him off the block
• Then Dick, with the only vote, voted to evict Jameka
• The Final Three are Dick, Daniele and Zach
• Tonight was round one of a three-round HoH competition
  • Daniele has been eliminated from round one
• The third and final round to see who wins the most important HoH competition yet airs live this Thursday night

BB8 | The home stretch

With the Big Brother house down to the final four, the season is definitely winding down. Here’s a reminder of what’s coming up in the primetime shows over the next few weeks:

• Tonight, the CBS show will feature an HoH competition as well as nominations
• It’s a special live show Tuesday, in which the veto ceremony immediately precedes an eviction
• Thursday, it’s another live show. This time, a final Head of Household is crowned and will singlehandedly evict a houseguest, leaving America with its final two
• Next Sunday, an episode is scheduled to air up against the Primetime Emmys
• And Tuesday, Sept. 18, is the live finale, in which a jury of evicted houseguests returns to decide the winner of $500,000

According to CBS.com, America will be casting Eric’s vote for the winner come the 18th. After Dark, which has gotten far less interesting now that there’s virtually no one in the house, continues nightly on ShoToo.
